Full Mouth Reconstruction

HOME / Implants / Full Mouth Reconstruction

A full mouth reconstruction involves treatment of the whole mouth to improve your bite and appearance of your teeth and smile. This is often done using a combination of crowns, bridges, or veneers on most or all teeth (or implants to replace teeth) so that the teeth are protected and the bite is improved. Professor Tipton is a specialist in this area.

The full mouth reconstruction is often reserved for mouths that are badly broken down, or have had a lot of NHS poorly fitted crowns, fillings etc. over the years with resulting problems.

Am I suitable for a full mouth reconstruction?

If your bite is not ideal because of missing or broken down teeth at the back of your mouth, all of the load of your bite will be taken by your front teeth. Over time this can cause the front teeth to chip & break and lead to an unsightly appearance & in some cases, pain in your jaw joints.

Missing teeth at the back of the mouth can be restored with dental bridges or implants and broken down teeth can be restored with crowns or onlays to open up the bite and allow for better function. This will in turn relieve the pressure from the front of the mouth and allow for restorations such as ceramic crowns and porcelain veneers to be placed and rejuvenate the appearance of your smile. Uneven gum margins can also be corrected if required using minimally invasive laser surgery to ensure we get an impeccable final result.

Professor Tipton has written a series of 10 articles in Private Dentistry which you can download here

This gentleman had suffered from tetracycline staining and poor NHS treatment throughout his life. He decided to have private restorative treatment from a “specialist” and after lengthy treatment was completed he had a full mouth reconstruction.
